CTB surface-mounted on Window AWS

Schüco CTB (Concealed Toughened Blind) sun shading is external sun shading that is surface-mounted on the Schüco AWS window system and offers exceptionally high wind stability up to 30 m/s

The wind-resistant CTB sun shading blind is surface-mounted on the Schüco AWS window systems and is ideally suited to use in office and administration buildings or equally in private homes. The sun shading is installed above the window in an insulated box, thereby fitting in perfectly with the look of the building. When the sun shading is raised completely, it is not visible due to its integration in the sun shading top box.

The electrically operated sun shading is constructed from micro aluminium louvre blades. Optimal shading is possible and at the same time a high level of transparency provides views to the outside. The extruded aluminium louvre blades can be incorporated perfectly into the external design of the building as their outer surfaces can be anodised.

The Schüco high-performance CTB sun shading can withstand extremely high wind loads and can be installed almost irrespective of wind conditions. The sun shading has been tested up to a wind force of 30 m/s, which corresponds to a force 11 wind, i.e. a violent storm.

The total solar energy transmittance gtotal has been calculated depending on the angle of the sun. In summer, with the sun is at angle of 50º, less than 2% of the sun’s energy entered the room. This significantly reduces heat build-up in rooms and the associated energy costs.

SPECIFICATION TEXTS/PREVIEW SPECIFICATION

Schüco CTB solar shading mounted in front of a façade
Schüco CTB solar shading is active, external shading that is mounted in front of the façade and offers exceptionally high wind stability. The solar shading is mounted in front of the FW 50+ / FW 60+ façade and is covered by a headbox. It provides optimum shading for interior rooms and high transparency for views to the outside.

Blind
The blind consists of horizontal, extruded aluminium louvre blades with fixing groove, which are attached to each other by stainless steel cables. The louvre blades are therefore fixed without visible interruption of the outward-facing side of the profile.
Complete shading must be provided from when the sun is at an angle of 20° with a degree of transparency of at least 23%. When the sun is at an angle of at least 20°, the gtotal value in conjunction with the thermal insulation glazing must be 0.07.
The wind stability of the blind from 30 m/s (11 Beaufort) must be proved by a wind tunnel test with test certificate.
If the solar shading is used in front of opening units which open outwards, it must be ensured that the opening units can only be opened when the solar shading is raised. When the blind is raised, the end strip is not visible.
The louvre blades are made from an extruded aluminium profile and measure 9.3 mm x 9.6 mm. They are positioned at an angle of 45° to the outside and have a convex curvature with a radius of 10 mm. The inward-facing louvre blade has a concave curvature (radius of 13 mm) and has a face height of 8 mm. The louvre blades are anodised to E6 in natural metallic C0 / light bronze C31 / pale bronze C32 / medium bronze C33 / dark bronze C34 / black C35.
The drive shaft must be configured as an extruded hollow profile. The 230 V electric motor is inserted in the shaft and secured against movement along the axes. The blind is connected to the shaft by means of positive and friction-locked, hook-in couplings. The shaft is prepared with sliding and fixed bearings.

(Follow-on text option) Blind operation on Schüco FW 50+ façade
The blind is guided by extruded aluminium profiles at the side, which are arranged symmetrically (dimensions: 85.0 mm x 63.5 mm) or asymmetrically (dimensions: 68.0 mm x 63.5 mm). The profiles simultaneously act as façade pressure plates, and their connection to the façade is concealed. An additional bracket system is therefore not required. Two plastic rubbing strips must be integrated in every guide groove. The louvre blades and the guide cap of the end strip run quietly in the guide tracks.

(Follow-on text option) Blind operation on Schüco FW 60+ façade
The blind is guided by extruded aluminium profiles at the side, which are arranged symmetrically (dimensions: 85.0 mm x 63.5 mm) or asymmetrically (dimensions: 73.0 mm x 63.5 mm). The profiles simultaneously act as façade pressure plates, and their connection to the façade is concealed. An additional bracket system is therefore not required. Two plastic rubbing strips must be integrated in every guide groove. The louvre blades and the guide cap of the end strip run quietly in the guide tracks.

Entry guides
The top attachment of the guide tracks must be designed with plastic entry guides.

Guide rollers
Plastic deflection rollers must be provided, and these must ensure that the blind runs securely in the guide tracks. Guide plates on the side of the outer rollers ensure that the blind retracts correctly.

Shaft bearing
The shaft is inserted in the bearing brackets from the outside, which must be electro-coated. The bearing brackets are mounted on solar shading brackets that are provided on site and must allow for the vertical alignment of the shaft. The shaft is secured in the bearing plates at the front via a locking bar that must be screwed in two places.

Façade fixing bracket
The Schüco CTB solar shading is fixed between two aluminium façade brackets, 10 mm wide. The façade brackets are structurally load-bearing and connected to the façade mullions. The bracket carriers mounted on the façade brackets are used to fix the retaining profile. The height of the retaining profile must be adjusted before it is fixed in place. Headbox holders are mounted on the façade brackets, which can be used for both square and round-edged headboxes.

Actuator
The drive has a 230 V / 50 Hz tubular motor that is inserted in the shaft and that has a connecting cable (0.25 m long, 4-core, 8 mm diameter) and fitted plug connection. The top and bottom end position can be set electronically using an adjustment cable. The drive has VDE and CE marks and EMV radio suppression seal.

Operation
The blind profiles are raised and lowered using standard flush or surface-mounted switches and host control system (central control, sun monitor, ice monitor, wind monitor, time switch). The end switch integrated in the drive switches the motor off when it reaches the top and the bottom end position.

Colours and surface finishes
The shaft must be plate finish, the louvre blades and the end strip must be anodised and the guide tracks must be anodised / powder coated.
For the louvre blade colours C0 and C31, the plastic clips of the fixing cable must be grey. For the colours C32, C33, C34 and C35, the plastic clips must be black. All other plastic parts must be black.

Headbox
Round-edged/square-edged headbox made of folded aluminium, 2 mm thick, closed at the side. The headbox must be designed in such a way that it is protected against rain and snow.
